Are you planning to renovate your home but struggling with where to store your materials, furniture, and equipment? Look no further than steel container rentals! These sturdy, weather-resistant containers offer the perfect solution for homeowners needing extra storage space during a renovation project.
Whether you’re looking to store construction materials or protect your valuable possessions from dust and debris during renovation work, shipping containers offer an ideal storage option that ensures the safety of your belongings.
In this guide, our team at A American Container explores how container rentals can help simplify your home renovation projects while providing ample space for all your storage needs.
How Storage Containers Make Renovations Easy
Home renovations are exciting, but they can also be stressful. One of the biggest challenges during a home renovation is figuring out what to do with your furniture. Moving it from room to room or into a storage unit can be time-consuming and costly.
This is where container rentals come in handy – they provide a central location to temporarily relocate your furniture while the renovation is going on.
Plus, if you have tile, wood flooring, new appliances, or equipment that you need to store, a 20 or 40-foot container offers just the right amount of space to store these items away from the elements and thieves.
The Benefits of Renting a Steel Container During a Renovation
There are many benefits to renting a shipping container whether you need it for a few weeks or months during your project.
Benefits include:
- Containers come in different sizes, so you can choose one that fits your needs.
- They are made from strong steel and have lockable doors for security.
- They can be delivered right to your doorstep, making the process convenient and hassle-free. You can load up your furniture at your own pace, knowing that it will stay safe and secure until you’re ready to move back in.
- You won’t have to rent an off-site storage facility to store your items, they’ll be safe in your driveway or backyard and accessible 24/7.
- We’ll come to pick up your rental container once your project is complete, a truly hassle-free experience!
What Size Container Do You Need?
Depending on the scope of your project, there are two sizes available on our lot; 20’ and 40’.
When deciding on which size to rent, consider the size of your home and how much furniture, equipment, or materials you plan to store throughout the process. This will help you find the perfect fit based on the storage container capacity.
- Items from a three-bedroom house can fit in a 20-foot container.
- Items from a five-bedroom house can fit in a 40-foot container.
Considerations
Before securing a steel container rental, make sure to consider the following:
Permits & Regulations
Before renting a shipping container for your home renovation, it is crucial to check with your city to find out the regulations for having a storage container on a residential property. If they do, find out what permits you need to secure and how long the container can be used.
Further, if you live in a condo or townhouse, the regulations put forth by your HOA might be more stringent. Some homeowners’ associations don’t allow any kind of storage container to be used on personal property because they detract from the curb appeal of the neighborhood.
When in doubt, ask your HOA management before signing a rental agreement.
Space
When remodeling or renovating your home, it is important to consider if there is enough space for your container to be delivered and placed.
Depending on the size of the container that you rent, our delivery trucks need a minimum of 65-135ft of room to back up and place the container on the ground. And speaking of the ground, while you may not need to install a foundation, the area where you place your container should be as level as possible to avoid any issues with the doors.
While a steel container can be placed on dirt, gravel, or a concrete pad, we supply pressure-treated 4 x 6 wood blocks for our rental customers to place the container on which protects the wooden floors.
